Recognition of degrees in Sweden

If you have an education from another country you can have it assessed by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education.

Is you have completed a university or higher education from abroad you can have it assessed by the Swedish National Agency for Higher Education. The National Agency will then tell you the Swedish equivalent of your foreign degree. This makes things easier for you and your employer when you are looking for a job.

But there are exceptions. The National Agency for Higher Education does not assess studies for occupations which are regulated in Sweden. If an education is regulated that means that it requires authorisation, for example, nurses or doctors. These degrees are assessed by the National Board of Health and Welfare. The exception is teacher training, where the National Agency for Higher Education is the competent authority.

If you want to get your degree assessed, please send a completed application form and certified copies of your certificates to the National Agency for Higher Education.

This assessment is free of charge. The National Agency does not, however, assess parts of an education or courses which are shorter than two years.
