Nordic agreements

In policy areas where they wish to work more closely together, the Nordic countries enter into agreements and memorandums of understanding and/or express their collective will in declarations. Here is a list of agreements in the areas of education and language.
The Nordic Language Convention
Convention between Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden on the right of Nordic nationals to use their mother tongue in other Nordic countries.

The original Agreement was adopted on 3 September 1996. This is an unofficial and adapted version of the Agreement, which contains the amendments adopted on 13 March 2000, 3 November 2006, 23 April 2009, 31 October 2012 and 2 November 2015. Preambles and final provisions have been omitted from this version, with the exception of the final provision contained in the most recent amended Agreement, which extends the validity of the Agreement until the end of 2018.
