Green Zone

State of Green, Business Sweden, FinPro and the Nordic Council of Ministers have organised a shared Nordic business pavilion in the green innovation zone at COP22 taking place 7-18 November in Marrakesh, Morocco.

The Nordic pavilion will be organised in the green innovation zone at COP22 (located next to the official UN Blue Zone) as a joint initiative that unites the Nordic countries under the auspices of the Nordic Council of Ministers. The Nordics have a strong trade mark and reputation of being in the forefront of sustainable solutions and environmental thinking. The organisers’ aim is to create a common platform that Nordic companies can use to leverage on the strong Nordic brand.

The 150 m2 pavilion is organised by three Nordic partners and 16 Nordic companies will take part.

Some Blue Zone participants also present their ideas at the Green Zone

Nordic Innovation: "Nordic Built City Solutions" on 14. November from 12.30-1.30 pm

Focus: Sharing of city-to-city solutions (Helsinki and Oslo) focusing on how public-private cooperation can lead to common solutions that are able to realise the cities’ climate ambitions in an economically, socially and technologically sustainable manner. Focus on creation of livable cities, the importance of cities as drivers for a green transition, and thus the importance of implementing solutions and technologies across energy, transport and climate adaptation.
External panelists: Dept. Mayor of Helsinki + Dept. Mayor of Oslo

SITRA: "Green to Scale in Africa" d. 15 November from 1.30-2.30 pm
Focus: Bringing green solutions to Africa and demonstrating their proven emissions reductions and scalability through concrete technologies, i.e. highlighting already implemented projects (or pipeline projects + lessons-learned) that suit an African context. The two external panelists, as well as the moderator, will set the overall picture, i.e. the importance of deploying green scalable solutions to developing countries, and the potential for green growth in African countries, in order to reach the climate ambitions set in Paris, and the company reps can contribute with concrete ideas that tie in to this overall narrative.
External panelists: Clinton Foundation, Swedish Steel Association.

Nordregio: "Nordic Perspectives on Green Growth" on 11. November from 11.00-12.00 pm
Focus: Public-Private panel debate aimed at sharing hands-on green growth practices and solutions. The aim is to share perspectives that highlight key characteristics of Nordic green growth, i.e. close public-private collaboration, climate financing models (e.g. using public funding to minimize risk for private capital investments), designed to be a source of information for businesses and policy-makers alike.
External panelists: TBA
