14 Baltic Sea Region -projects receive Nordic funding

The Nordic Council of Ministers’ funding programme for NGOs in the Baltic Sea Region has been awarded to 14 eligible projects.

The overall objective of the program is to promote civil society and strengthen cross border co-operation and thereby contribute to the development of the region. Focus areas are social & health, children & youth, education, culture, gender and environment. NGOs play a prominent role in the Nordic Council of Ministers´ co-operation in the Baltic Sea Region.

The 14 projects that have received funding are:

1)    LEVER - Voluntary culture as leverage of cross-cultural activities in sparsely populated areas with an added value for democratic participation and community bonding by the organization Interfolk, Institute for Civil Society.

2)    Green manual for youth space by the organization homo ecos.

3)    Health of LGBT community in Murmansk region by the organization Maximum NorthernBerries.

4)    CREATIVITY without BORDERS and BARRIERS by the organization Association for cooperation with Baltic Sea countries Norden.

5)    SocialBoost- Effective measures of social harmonization as a boost for employability in times of demographic changes by the organization CASE- Center for Social and Economic Research.

6)    School Mediation by the organization Save the Children Lithuania.

7)    Social entrepreneurship - community quality of life by the organization Public and private association Zied zeme (Land in Bloom).

8)    NGO's and Fatherhood: Strengthening the Capacity of NGO’s Working with Fathers and Families in Different Life Situations by the organization Finland-Russia Society, District organization of Southern Finland.

9)    Exchange of Nordic, Baltic and Russian Experience in the Provision of Quality Care for Traumatized Children in Alternative Care by the organization SOS Children's Villages Poland.

10) Red Lights Out by the organization Patvērums Drošā māja.

11) Strengthening NGOs in promotion of sustainable energy for local development and climate protection by the organization International Network for Sustainable Energy – Europe.

12) KID (Kindergartens in Development) – Equal opportunities for preschool girls and boys by the organization The Åland Islands Peace Institute.

13) Creation of a Sustainable, NGO-led River Monitoring Network on the Neman and Pregola Rivers by the organization Stockholm Environment Institute.

14) Opening Doors to the Native Knowledge of Reindeer Herders and Capacity Building of Civil Society Organisations by the organization Nordisk Fond for Miljø og Udvikling.
