The Nordic Council Music Prize
The Nordic Council Music Prize recognises creative musicians of the highest artistic standards. The prize alternates annually between a contemporary composer and an ensemble of particularly high artistic and technical standard.Established in 1965, the prize was originally awarded every third year. Since 1990, the DKK 350,000 prize has been awarded annually. The autonomous territories have been allowed to submit nominations since 1997.
The composer Natasha Barrett, who lives in Norway, was awarded the Nordic Council Music Prize 2006 for the electro-acoustic work ‘…fetters…’.
Twelve choirs from all corners of the Region have been nominated for the 2007 prize, the first time the theme has been choral music.
