Ecolabelling to advance sustainable
consumption and production

The side event presents and discusses the role of ecolabelling in enhancing sustainable consumption and production. Type I ecolabels based on multiple criteria, lifecycle perspective and third-party certification are practical tools for manufacturers to improve resource efficiency of products and for consumers to make environmentally sound choices.

Relevant global, regional and national stakeholders will highlight the advantages and opportunities of using ecolabelling to achieve more sustainable societies, both in developed and developing regions.

The side event is organised in co-operation with the United Nations Environment Programme/Division of Technology, Industry and Economics and with participation from other international and non-governmental organisations.
