Application form for Nordic Talks

Do you have an idea for a Nordic project, an idea that can help place the Nordics in the minds of the world? Then you should consider applying for a Nordic Talks grant.

Make us fall in love with your Nordic project!

What is Nordic Talks?

‘Nordic Talks’ is the Nordic Council of Ministers’ concept for a global series of talks addressing current affairs that capture the essence of Nordic themes and issues.

A Nordic Talk is a branded concept that can help you strengthen your Nordic event. It can be held anywhere, anytime. It can also be held as a stand-alone or in connection to existing events like festivals and conferences.

A Nordic Talk is an easy-to-replicate live event concept that internal (within Nordic co-operation) and external organizations, Nordic diplomatic missions abroad, NGOs, universities, creative minds, networks and other companies worldwide are able to host locally after their application has been approved by the Nordic Council of Ministers. All we ask you to do is to follow a few simple dogmas and guidelines, but most important that you record the sound from the Nordic talk event and send it to us.

The best recordings will be edited into professional podcast episodes by The Nordic Council of Ministers. The podcast will be shared with you along with material that makes it easy for you to share it with relevant stakeholders in your network. We will also promote the Nordic Talks podcast series worldwide, making your talk heard by an even bigger audience.

All Nordic Talks are dedicated to addressing the SDG challenges. We want to inspire thinkers and doers to talk to each other and ultimately inspire each other to act – for a better, more sustainable future.

What is the Nordics?

The idea behind The Nordics and our Nordic Talks concept is to re-think the usual concepts of place branding. Instead of showing The Nordics to the world – we are showing The Nordics in the world.

Our aim is to create a brand that shares its relevance with the world, shares how Nordic thinking has inspired so many people, and shows how Nordic values can work across borders, cultures and generations. Find out more on www.thenordics.com and www.nordictalks.com.

What are we looking for?

In short, we are looking for new creative partnerships and projects with a high level of international PR potential. Projects that will help leverage our strategy for the international branding and positioning of the Nordic Region – The Nordics.

We would like you to team up with other international and Nordic partners sharing the same idea, but even more importantly, we would like you to use and be part of our Nordic Talks concept.

What do we fund?

We fund Nordic Talks all over the world. The focus is on projects that address the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) and embrace our shared Nordic values like equality, trust and innovation.

If you have the right project in mind and can see a potential in integrating Nordic Talks as part of your project, we can help fund your project and get your message out to the masses.

Three different tracks: Small, Medium and Large

Small Nordic Talk

Grant amount: DKK 50.000,-

The Small Nordic Talk grant is for you, who have an idea of a Nordic Talk that doesn’t necessarily need a big live audience. It could simply be two talkers and a moderator in dialogue on a rooftop bar with an audience of up to 30 people (if any). All we ask for is that the sound from the talk is recorded and sent to us – we’ll take care of the podcast production.

Medium Nordic Talk

Grant amount: DKK 100.000,-

A Medium Nordic Talk can take many shapes. It could be the medium sized event with 2 x three talkers and a moderator on a stage in a university auditorium with audience of 100 people. It could be two or three consecutively Nordic Talks on the same day – or spread over two or more days. Or it could more simply be a number of Nordic Talks recorded in a studio. That’s up to you, but let us in on your ideas.

The amount applied for may not constitute more than 50 per cent of your total project budget. A minimum of three partners is required, whereof at least 2 of those partners involved must come from different Nordic countries.

It is mandatory that at least one Nordic embassy/diplomatic mission is involved as a project partner.

Audio from all talks must be recorded and sent to Nordic Council of Ministers.

Large Nordic Talk

Grant amount: DKK 195.000,-

We expect that you arrange more than one Nordic Talk (maybe unless you can get António Guterres, Yoko Ono and PewDiePie in the same panel and have ABBA play in the break).
