For you with an interest in digitalisation, the labour market, or the integration of refugees and immigrants, the conference will give you the opportunity to discover the latest knowledge about a changing labour market.

At the conference, experts in the labour market, integration, and digitalisation will present examples of challenges and solutions linked to the digital transformation in relation to the integration of refugees and immigrants.

Automation and digitalisation are affecting the need for skills both in the labour market and in day-to-day life. Routine-based low- and middle-skilled tasks are disappearing. Instead, a raft of high-skilled roles are emerging that require good language and communicative skills, as well as the capacity for abstract thinking and problem-solving. Digitalisation can be leveraged positively in the development of integration services, as well as offer new ways of reaching out to people during exceptional times, such as during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet vulnerable groups are at risk of being left behind by such developments. Consequently, the development of integration policy must take increasing digitalisation into account.

The Nordic Council of Ministers’ new vision for 2030 places emphasis on a competitive Nordic Region that is based on knowledge, innovation, mobility, and digital integration, as well as a socially sustainable Nordic Region that is based on inclusion and gender equality with common values and stronger welfare. Everyone must be included in order to achieve this vision, and skills must be developed that are in step with digital development.
