How will we get politicians to commit to a new global agreement for Biodiversity?

Why did the international community fail to reach any of the global 20 biodiversity targets which expires in 2020? Do we need a legally binding agreement?

These are the main questions in a debate between young biodiversity ambassadors and Nordic politicians.

Do political leaders have the courage?

A new global agreement for Biodiversity is under negotiation. More than ever be-fore in human history oceans, forests and land are being degraded and around 1 million animal and plant species are under threat of extinction. This decline is eroding the foundations of our economies, livelihoods, water/food security and quality of life .

A UN report states that radical and transformative change is needed to halt the loss of biodiversity but do political leaders have the courage to make the necessary decisions and commitment to save our planet?

How do we succeed in ensuring that targets are implemented and what is the role of the Nordic countries?

These are questions young people will be asking politicians from the Nordic region during the debate.
