Respect Europa's programme Svante is nominated because if offers an effective tool for companies wanting to improve their energy efficiency.
Svante provides companies with an overview of the amount of their greenhouse gas emissions. By entering its energy consumption into the programme a company gets an overview both of its own direct emissions through heating and transport, and the company's indirect emissions from, for example, district heating, business trips, personnel resources and suppliers. The objective of Svante is to specify the company's influence on climate in tangible terms, and make it easier to identify and prioritise conditions which affect energy consumption, emissions and costs. The programme is aimed at small and medium sized enterprises and operates according to international environmental standards.
