15.30-16.30 Ambitious goals for small actors: can the Nordics lead the way towards carbon-neutral societies?
Joint event between Stockholm and Madrid
Ambitious goals for small actors: can the Nordics lead the way towards carbon-neutral societies? The Nordic countries all have ambitious policies aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, probably more ambitious than many other countries globally. However, their total share of global emissions is estimated to a rather shy number: 0,5 per cent. The Nordic countries are also rather ambitious and hopeful in regards to clean technologies and aim to lead the way in this field too. A few questions arise from this: Should the Nordic countries focus on their emissions or “help” other countries lower theirs? Should the Nordics be front-runners hoping to inspire others or put their money where the emissions are easier to reduce? With a Nordic and global perspective, we hope to get the Nordic perspective dissected through the eyes of others, as well as to share our research and learnings so far.
