Denmark names new Minister for Nordic Co-operation
Passion
Jensen brings great passion and wide-ranging experience to the Nordic Council of Ministers. A member of the Nordic Council Committee for Knowledge and Culture in the Nordic Region until today, he has also chaired the Nordic Association in Denmark since 2015.
Strong and relevant profile
Jensen will also double as Minister for Food, Fisheries and Equal Opportunities – all areas in which the Nordic Council of Ministers works closely together. In fact, the programme for the Icelandic Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2019 prioritises sustainability, the oceans and gender equality. Denmark takes over the Presidency in 2020. All in all, the new Danish minister brings a strong and relevant profile to the post.
Solid political experience
A former Minister of Trade and Development, Mogens Jensen has been a member of the Social Democrats since 1980. Before that he also active in Social Democratic Youth. All in all, he is a highly experienced politician and the huge insight he brings from his work at both Nordic and Danish level will be of great benefit to Nordic co-operation.
