11 nominations for the Environment Prize 2017

The theme for the Nordic Council Environment Prize 2017 is initiatives that bring us closer to the waste-free society. The adjudication committee has now whittled all of the proposals submitted by the general public down to 11 nominations.

The Environment Prize 2017 will be awarded to a Nordic company, organisation or individual for exemplary involvement in promoting, developing or initiating waste-free solutions. The winner of the Prize in 2016 was the Danish app Too Good To Go, which combats food waste.

The nominations were announced today at the People’s Festival on Bornholm.

Finland

Restarters Oslo: Empowers people to be a part of a social and creative repair culture

Sweden

ALLWIN AB: Reduces food waste, 2 million meals per year to people in need

ICA and Rescued Fruits: Juice made of rescued fruit at ICA

Food Centre, Stockholm City Mission: Jobs and redistribution of surplus food

Swedish Algae Factory: Enhances the efficiency of solar panels with material from algae

 

The 23rd winner of the DKK 350,000 prize will be announced at a ceremony in Finlandia House, Helsinki, on 1 Nov 2017.
