Kjell Westö wins the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2014 for "Mirage 38"

The Nordic Council Literature Prize 2014 has been awarded to the Finnish author Kjell Westö for his novel "Mirage 38" at a ceremony in Stockholm.

Last year’s winner Kim Leine presented the DKK 350,000 prize in Stockholm City Hall and read the from the adjudication committee’s motivation:

Motivation

“The Nordic Council Literature Prize goes to the Finnish writer Kjell Westö for the novel Mirage 38, the evocative prose of which breathes life into a critical moment in Finland’s history – one that has links to the present day.”
