Nordic co-operation in clinical trials

- Together the Nordic countries can become an important European area for clinical trials, said Christina Åkerman, chair of the NTA board and Director General of the Swedish Medical Products Agency, when she spoke at a stakeholder meeting.

The Nordic clinical research area (NTA) is a three-year pilot project designed to make it easier to carry out clinical research in the Nordic countries. The past ten years have seen a decrease in the number of clinical trials conducted in the Nordic region, and there is broad agreement that this trend must be reversed. More clinical studies in the Nordic countries will give the population faster access to new treatment methods and medicines.

The NTA is one project connected to the The Nordic Council of Ministers´ programme Sustainable Nordic Welfare.

30 January arranged NTA a stakeholder meeting in Stockholm.
