Nordic Cities Gather Against Violent Extremism
The network of municipalities commits to identify, innovate, accelerate and scale best practices from the Nordic region. The Nordic Safe Cities guide shows the best practice from towns in the Nordic region. This is not a closed network - new cities and municipalities are still welcome to join.

The attackers have one thing in common; they hate us. They hate our freedom and our democracy, so we need to stand together to prevent them from attacking us.
Lord Mayor of Copenhagen, Frank Jensen, welcomed the network to Denmark and shared his thoughts on being present during the Copenhagen attack two years ago.
- Copenhagen is not the only city in our region that has been hit. We still morn the lives lost in Norway six years ago. The attacker at Utøya was not a radical islamist, but a right wing extremist. This reminds us that extremism can come from both the right and the left, and that we need to fight all forms of extremism. However, the attackers have one thing in common; they hate us. They hate our freedom and our democracy, so we need to stand together to prevent them from attacking us, said Frank Jensen.
Secretary General of The Nordic Council of Ministers, Dagfinn Høybråten is convinced that this is an important project within the Nordic Co-operation in today’s turbulent world.
