Nordic co-operation popular among residents

The survey responses clearly indicate that being able to look for a job, study, and settle in any Nordic country is perceived by many as being the biggest benefit of Nordic co-operation.
Younger residents in the Nordic countries particularly appreciate the opportunity to study and have their degree recognised throughout the region.
Defence and security paramount
Over 90 percent of respondents said that they think it’s important or very important that the countries work together in the areas of defence and security in particular.
This means that attitudes have changed somewhat over the past decade. A similar survey conducted in 2008 found that residents in the Nordic Region thought fighting crime across borders was the most important area.
More people want closer co-operation between the Nordic countries. A few years ago, 62 percent of residents in the Nordic countries wanted more co-operation. That figure is now 68 percent.
Only one percent of people think that Nordic co-operation is not at all important.
The whole of the Nordic Region gave its opinion
More than 3,000 people from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland were interviewed for the study, which was conducted between August and September this year.
