Ida Lundén is one of our generation’s most innovative and interesting Swedish composers. She is a composer of this day and age who, with both humour and gravity, builds her own sound worlds where everything from the double bass to the waste plastic found on a beach gets heard. With an easy and fearless hand, a self-assured sense of style, and great technical expertise, she moves freely from the very simplest styles to the most complex of musical expressions.

In Songs my mothers taught me Lundén and cellist Hanna Dahlkvist take us on an extraordinary journey from past to present. Forgotten music is rescued from obscurity and injected with new life in a breathtakingly beautiful and peculiar work that feels as familiar as it does strange, and as primordial as it does new.
