About Theme Group 2: Innovative and Resilient Regions
Nordic economic growth is generated regionally and locally via innovation and entrepreneurship. It is important that regional policy supports and stimulates regional innovation environments and business promotion measures, so that the regions can take advantage of the potential for smart and sustainable development.
Establishing and developing strategic partnerships between research bodies, public-sector agencies and business in urban and rural areas is crucial to achieving sustainable development. Cluster development, regional innovation processes and understanding and building on the opportunities and challenges presented by globalisation are all interesting topics worth expanding on.
Nordregio, the Nordic Council of Ministers’ international research centre for regional development and planning, provides the secretariat function to the theme group.
