Nordic co-operation focused on Vision 2030 at the summer democracy festivals, when up to half a million people met with decision-makers to discuss policy.

Official Nordic co-operation had its own stalls and participated in other events at democracy festivals in five Nordic and the three Baltic countries in recent months. The focus was on Vision 2030 by presenting the latest reports, project outcomes and policies on the themes of the green, competitive and socially sustainable Nordic Region. Government ministers, MPs and other Nordic figures discussed challenges facing the Nordic Region and solutions to them along with organisations, companies, partners, opponents and the people it is all about – civil society.

Important and necessary arenas

The Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, Karen Ellemann, attended several democracy festivals in Baltic and Nordic countries. She sums up:

“All our great democracy festivals, which take place in the summer months, are important and necessary arenas to provide space for a respectful conversation about the big issues of the day. The Nordic Council of Ministers and the Nordic institutions help provide that framework. Thank you for all the positive and instructive debates,” she says.
