The Nordic Council Environment Prize 2021 will be awarded in November. To mark the occasion, the Nordic Council is sending the actual statuette on a relay, a tour of all the Nordic countries.

The annual Nordic Council Environment Prize goes to a company, organisation or individual in the Nordics for extraordinary efforts on behalf of the environment. In the run-up to the annual award, the Nordic Council is paying tribute to all of the people and activities that strive to improve the environment.

Follow the Environment Relay

Join in the Relay as the Environment Prize visits all eight Nordic countries. Up to the award ceremony, the prize statuette will visit Nordic environmental organisations and initiatives, explore Nordic nature with them and see where they work. The Nordic countries are a hotbed for all kinds of important environmental initiatives. The Environment Relay pays tribute to all of these projects, highlights the work they do and provides inspiration to the whole of the Nordic Region.

From fjord and mountains to cobbled urban streets

The theme for the Environment Prize changes every year. Improving the environment involves everything from waste collection and cutting food waste to cleaner water and promoting more nature in urban areas. The Nordic Environment Relay will provide a unique insight into a wide range of initiatives and projects, both at sea and on land and in the countryside and the city.

The Relay starts in Greenland and will make its way to all of the Nordic countries, ending at the Nordic Council Award ceremony in Copenhagen on 2 November, when the winner of the Environment Prize 2021 will be announced.
