Journalists are now welcome to apply for accreditation to the 70th Session of the Nordic Council in Oslo from 30 October until 1 November 2018. Journalists can apply for accreditation for the Session and the awards ceremony for the Nordic Council prizes at this link.

The Session is the biggest annual Nordic political forum and is attended by parliamentarians, prime ministers, a raft of other government ministers, and opposition leaders from across the Nordic Region.

The first day of the Session begins with the usual summit between the Nordic Council and the Nordic prime ministers, where council members can put questions directly to the heads of government.

On Wednesday, debates on foreign policy and defence will take place on the basis of reports made to the Nordic Council by the ministers for foreign affairs and defence. The Ministers for Nordic Co-operation will also present their report on Wednesday.

In addition, the Session will address current issues and a number of members’ proposals – proposals submitted by the 87 members of the Nordic Council.

The Session will open on Tuesday 30 October at 14:15 and close on Thursday 1 November at 15:00. A new President and Vice-President of the Nordic Council for 2019 will be elected on the last day of the Session.
