Practical information for journalists and photographers about the Session of the Nordic Council Session in Oslo

Accreditation

Accreditation is compulsory and requires a valid press card. The deadline to apply for accreditation was 14:00 on 26 October 2018 (Norwegian time). Please contact Communications Advisor Matts Lindqvist: e-mail matlin@norden.org or phone +45 29 69 29 05.

Press conferences

Nordic Council press conference before Session, 30 October, 10:45–11:15, with the President and Vice-President of the Nordic Council and the chairs of the party groups

You will be able to follow it in Scandinavian, Finnish, Icelandic and English (interpreters). The press conference will be held in Vandrehallen in parliament and streamed live online.

 

The Nordic Prime Ministers doorstep press call, 30 October 16:45 after the Summit. Venue: Vandrehallen (the Central Hall), Parliament.

 

The Prime Ministers’ press conference, 31 October, 10:00–10:30, will be in English (no interpreters). The participants will be: Erna Solberg (Norway), Stefan Löfven (Sweden), Lars Løkke Rasmussen (Denmark), Juha Sipilä (Finland), Katrín Jakobsdóttir (Iceland), Kim Kielsen (Greenland), Aksel V. Johannesen (Faroe Islands) and Katrin Sjögren (Åland). The press conferences will be held in Vandrehallen in parliament and streamed live online.

 

A doorstep media call will also be held on 30 October at approx. 09:30 with Idar Kreutzer, administrative director Finance Norway, who will present a report on how the Nordic countries should work together on new start-ups and growth companies. Venue: Parliament, outside Room S-407.

Registration

Registration will take place in Trappehallen in Parliament after security checks at the main entrance. On registering you will be issued with a pass that provides access to the plenary chamber, all press conferences and the award ceremony for the Nordic Council prizes on 30 October.

A valid press card or photo ID must be shown when registering.

Registration will be at the following times:

Monday 29 October from 08:00.

Tuesday 30 October and Wednesday 31 November from 07:30.

Thursday 1 November from 08:00.

Photography in the plenary chamber during the Session

During the Session, photography will only be permitted from the galleries. Only official Norwegian parliamentary and Nordic Council photographers will be allowed into the chamber. The Nordic Council will post images on norden.org for public use.

The media centre

There will be a media centre for working journalists in room S-447 on the fourth floor of the Parliament, right beside the press gallery.

The Nordic Council’s communications advisers will be in Kinosalen S-597 on the fifth floor. They will be available to the media throughout the Session.

WiFi and printers will be available in the media centre.

Please follow the Nordic Council and the Nordic Council of Ministers on Twitter, which will be widely used during the Session. The Session hashtags are #nrsession and #nrpol.

Streaming

The media have access to all debates in the plenary chamber, and these will also be streamed live in Scandinavian, Icelandic, Finnish and English.

Accreditation

The venue for the award ceremony is The Norwegian Opera & Ballet. Accreditation is compulsory, including for journalists from the press corps at the Norwegian parliament.

Doors open 17:30

Please remember to factor security checks into your arrival time for this event. The doors will open for the media at 17:30. Access will be by a special media entrance where your equipment will be subject to security checks. You must be in the main hall by 18.45, which is when its doors close.

Invitations and seats in the hall

After security checks in the Opera House, you will be given and invitation and seat number in the hall.

30-minute time lag – please wait before publication

The gala starts at 19:15 but the NRK1 programme starts at 19:45 (Norwegian time). This means that there will be a 30-minute delay and as far as possible we would request that you respect this when publishing news from the Opera House  See the programme and list of who is presenting the prizes.

IMPORTANT – photography will not be permitted during the Nordic Council prize gala! 

NRK has informed us that photography will NOT be permitted during the Nordic Council prize gala in the Opera House this evening. It would interfere with the TV production, which would have to be stopped.

The prizes will be awarded in the following order:

1. The Film Prize
2. The Environment Prize
3. The Children and Young People’s Literature Prize 
4. The Music Prize
5. The Literature Prize

Media call with the winners, the crown princess and her husband

Immediately after the awards, the winners will be available for interviews and photographs in the Flagstad room.

We will be publishing news items from the award ceremony as the prizes are presented on TV. These news items will be in all of the Nordic languages ​​and we will also post updates on Twitter.

The award ceremony will be broadcast throughout the Nordic Region

The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Norwegian public service channel (NRK) and later in the other Nordic countries. See times and channels.

The hashtag for the prizes is #nrpriser.

NB: photography is NOT permitted during the TV broadcast but will be allowed during the media call after the show.

The media room is in the corridor toward entrance no. 1 to the main hall.
