- 2015 is a critical year in our common quest to achieve a globally sustainable and climate-safe world. The parallel intergovernmental negotiations on the Post 2015 Sustainable Development Agenda, Financing for Development, and climate change, carry a real potential for eradicating poverty, and enable a long term sustainable development and growth pathway within planetary boundaries.

- Each of the three intergovernmental processes is critical to realizing this vision. Considerable positive synergies can be realized if these processes are considered together, and an integrated approach applied, including the full and comprehensive implementation of outcomes from these processes.

- Strong implementation of the environmental dimension will be essential to the success of the whole agenda. Ministers of environment have a particular role to play.

It is on that background that the Nordic Ministers for Environment (MR-M):

- Conside that the whole Post 2015 agenda, including the Sustainable Development Goals forms a part of the solution to global environmental challenges due to the interconnectedness between the various policy issues

- Will work to secure that the environmental sustainability dimension is an integral and fully balanced element of the Post 2015 outcome.

- Consider that environmental sustainability is fundamental for eradicating poverty and hunger.

- Will thus work to secure a result from the post 2015 sustainable development negotiations which upholds a fully integrated and balanced approach among the three dimensions of sustainable development in all elements of the negotiation outcome.

- Emphasize the importance of a collective global effort in achieving the proposed Sustainable Development Goals, including the environmental dimension of the goals, which commits all countries and engages all stakeholders in a new Global Partnership.

- Acknowledge our own responsibility in contributing towards the full implementation of the post 2015 agenda in the Nordic countries, and to ensure coherence with Multilateral environmental Agreements and other existing commitments.

- Will work to accelerate the transition towards green and inclusive economies, promoting the wider use of clean technologies and sustainable management of natural resources through the full implementation of the proposed Sustainable Development Goals.

- Will continue to work to enhance universal understanding of the role that thriving land and ocean ecosystems and a stable climate plays for human wellbeing and economic aspirations.

- Will continue to investigate the potential for the enhanced use of a framework for sustainability indicators within the Nordic Council of Ministers.

- Will work to ensure that the environmental dimension is fully incorporated into the monitoring, accountability and reviewing framework of the Post 2015 agenda, including the assessment of progress towards achieving the proposed Sustainable Development Goals, and underline the vital role of UNEA in contributing to the High Level Political Forum (HPLF) in that regard.
