Composer Anne Hytta is nominated for the 2024 Nordic Council Music Prize for the album “Brigde” (2023).

Anne Hytta (born in 1974) from Telemark, currently residing in Oslo, is an award-winning Hardanger fiddle player and composer. She has a solid foundation in traditional folk music while also traversing musical and geographical boundaries, from medieval music to improvisational music, from solo performances to larger ensembles.

With her evocative work Brigde, she has masterfully transformed the characteristics of the Hardanger fiddle into a chamber orchestral body and sound, which becomes both specific and universal at the same time. She creates an open and boundless state, which is and always has been, without having heard it before. An innovative quest to uncover the innermost essence of the Hardanger fiddle.
