The future of sustainable building in Denmark and the Nordic Region

How should we build, which materials should we use, and what about the architecture? 

The challenges in the construction industry are obvious: Buildings account for about 40 percent of global CO2 emissions. Most of the construction industry’s climate impact comes from building materials, construction, and demolition. The good news is that something can be done about it!  

Through our events at the Nordic democracy festivals, we will help to sharpen the focus on the role of construction in overcoming global challenges. In addition, we will: 

1. show that Nordic co-operation is in full committed to finding and creating new local solutions to global problems 

2. create national awareness and co-ownership of the Nordic agendas 

3. collect information/data from various countries about what’s at stake and what solutions are being worked on for continued Nordic co-operation on sustainable construction.
