Food loss and waste remain one of the most pressing sustainability challenges of our time, with far-reaching implications for the resilience of our food systems, as well as for the climate, environment, and economy.

In light of the new binding reduction targets under the EU Waste Framework Directive, raising the level of ambition is more important than ever. Strengthened collective efforts and new effective measures will be essential to meet these targets and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 12.3, which calls for halving global food waste by 2030.

More than 58 million tonnes of food waste are generated annually in the EU – equivalent to 130 kg per person.

Against the backdrop of insufficient progress in reducing food waste, the 2nd Nordic Food Waste Summit brings together a broad coalition of stakeholders from across Europe and the Nordic region.

In this two-day summit, you will get the chance to hear from leading speakers and recognised experts in the field and together we will accelerate progress, strengthen cooperation, and scale the solutions needed to reach our joint commitments and targets.

We look forward to welcoming you in Copenhagen for a summit dedicated to the importance reducing food loss and waste and together shape a more sustainable future across the Nordic region and the EU.

The first speakers and programme details will be announced soon.
