“Ice Concerto” by Fredrik Högberg

Fredrik Högberg, ph. lic. (born 1971) studied with Jan Sandström at the Piteå College of Music (1990-1997). During this period he worked as Sandström´s assistant, and also taught composition. Fredrik Högberg is captivated by technological innovations and has often been fascinated by the possibilities of information technology. Musically raised in the post-modern era, Fredrik Högberg combines, without compromise, the rhythmic elements from rock and pop with the intimate gestures from the neoclassic and romantic eras. He lets the primary meet the avant-garde, always in a colourful way and very often with a warm, irresistible sense of humour. His production includes a variety of orchestral works as well as concertos, chamber music and intermedia. Fredrik Högberg has been performed and recorded by orchestras all over the world and by some of the finest soloists such as Niklas Sivelöv, Martin Fröst, Isabelle van Keulen, Malena Ernman, Christian Lindberg, Nils Landgren, Ole Edvard Antonsen, Håkan Hardenberger and Øystein Baadsvik. Högberg lives in the old courthouse in Nyland, on the High Coast in Sweden.

Fredrik Högberg er nomineret til Nordisk Råds musikpris 2014
