The duo Hildá Länsman & Tuomas Norvio have been nominated for the 2026 Nordic Council Music Prize for the work Dajan.

Hildá Länsman’s and Tuomas Norvio’s first collaborative album, Dajan, creates a sonic world unlike anything heard before. Here, the ancient North Sámi joik tradition, luohti, encounters multifaceted contemporary electronic soundscapes. Boundaries dissolve, and the result is an entirely new, courageous, and enchanting synergy – a journey that stretches from cinematically calm, melancholic atmospheres to energetic dance beats.

With lyrical beauty and strength, Hildá Länsman’s poetic lyrics address questions of finding one’s own inner cultural voice, Mother Earth, ancestral heritage, and love.

Hildá Länsman is a multiple award-winning master of traditional music, whose vocal range extends from ethereally soft and clear tones to defiant, powerful singing. Her vocal expression, which challenges the boundaries of tradition, is more versatile than ever. Tuomas Norvio is among the leading figures in his field – an electronic sound designer, composer and musician who has collaborated with many distinguished artists. Together, Hildá and Tuomas create something unique, thoughtful and consistently elegant. Their collaboration reveals fascinating new dimensions in both artists.

Past and present, tradition, nature, and technology come together in Dajan in a way that has resulted in a masterpiece.
