Ravensoft Oy/Green Snapper, Finland
Ravensoft Oy is nominated for the IT programme Green Snapper which can reduce the electricity consumption of IT workstations by as much as 50 %.
The programme is now on the market in Finland, Sweden and Great Britain. Green Snapper is suitable for all companies and organisations regardless of size; it works just as well in an office with only one server as in an internationally broad network in a large company, and it works in the operating system Windows, which is used by 90 % of all workstations. The company has calculated a savings potential in the Nordic countries of about 220 million euros corresponding to 790,000 tons of CO2 emissions or an electricity consumption of 2,600 gWh per year. The company is working with WWF Finland to develop a 'climate barometer' and participates in the WWF programme Green Office.
