In conjunction with the 71st Session of the Nordic Council in Stockholm, the Speaker of Sweden’s parliament and the Nordic Council’s Swedish delegation are providing a lunch to celebrate and highlight the importance of democracy for our Nordic welfare states.

Nordic co-operation has strong popular support and takes place at all levels, every day. We work together on the basis of our shared history, culture, and values. The programme for the Swedish presidency of the Nordic Council in 2019 goes under the title “Everyday life in the Nordic region - democracy and popular support”.  The delegation wants to emphasise the importance of democracy for the well-being of our Nordic countries. Between 2018 and 2022, the Swedish parliament is commemorating and celebrating one hundred years of democracy in Sweden. In 2019, the Norden Association also celebrates its 100th birthday. 

Format: Sitting lunch with speeches, talks, and music.

Participants: The members and attending deputies and speakers of the Nordic Council, Nordic ambassadors, the Norden Association, Youth Leagues of the Norden Associations, and others. Members of the Nordic Council can sign up via the Session’s registration database.
