For how long is a Greenlandic driving licence valid?
A Greenlandic driving licence is valid from the time you pass your driving test until you turn 70. When you turn 70, you must see a doctor, who will assess whether you can safely continue to drive.
After the age of 70, your driving licence will be valid for shorter periods:
- If you are 70, you can get a driving licence that is valid for four years
- If you are 71, you can get a driving licence that is valid for three years
- If you are aged between 72 and 79, you can get a driving licence that is valid for two years
- If you are 80 or over, your licence must be renewed every year
You must have a medical certificate each time you need to renew your driving licence.
If you have a medical condition, such as epilepsy or diabetes, which means you have been licensed for a limited period only, you must renew your licence before it expires. To renew your driving licence, go to your local police station. You must bring the following:
- A new health certificate, which you can obtain from your doctor
- A photograph, stamped by your doctor
- Your old driving licence
