Rights of Children and Young People
Finland and Åland will prioritize the rights, welfare, and participation of children and young people across the Nordic Region. The presidency program emphasizes adherence to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, advocating for the protection and care that children need. It calls for systematic monitoring of efforts related to children's and young people's well-being.
Civil Preparedness and Overall Security
The program underscores the increasing importance of civil preparedness as a co-operative effort across various administrative sectors of the Nordic Council of Ministers. It highlights the Nordic countries' strong freedom of the press and expression, combined with a media-literate population and a strong rule of law, as a foundation for resisting external influences. The aim is to establish comprehensive preparedness for various crises and hybrid threats, with participation from the Faroe Islands, Greenland, and Åland.
Improved Competitiveness
The presidency program asserts the critical importance of the Nordic Region's global economic position and competitiveness for business sector development and societal welfare. Going forward, Nordic companies must innovate and compete in global markets, achieved through increased co-operation in innovation and sustainable solutions.
Home Stretch for Vision 2030
The Nordic Council of Ministers is working towards achieving the Nordic prime ministers' Vision 2030, aiming to make the Nordic Region the most integrated and sustainable region in the world by 2030. Efforts are entering their final, decisive stage. The presidency program reiterates that the three strategic priorities of a green, competitive, and socially sustainable Nordic Region remain the primary guidelines for Nordic co-operation.
