Plastic Change has been nominated for its success in bringing together politicians, the general public and industry to devise solutions at a national and international level to the damage caused to the marine environment by plastics. Its mission is to document this form of pollution, convey information about it and work on solutions to the problem. The 2017 campaign, Drikkevand uden Mikroplastik, tak (Drinking water without microplastics, please), led to the Minister for the Environment commissioning a survey of Danish drinking water. In the same year, a short film the organisation made about plastic was viewed by more than 51 million people. Plastic Change works closely with other organisations and businesses, for example in projects demonstrating how to make new products from plastic waste recovered from the sea.
