Prize Winner 1996

(ICC) Inuit Circumpolar Conference, Greenland

Since its establishment in 1980 ICC has rendered a unique effort for the living conditions and lifestyle of the indigenous people, especially the Inuits, with the objective, amongst other things, of maintaining sustainable environmental development.

The prize was awarded not least for the tangible results. ICC has been particularly active with the environment in AEPS (Arctic Environment Protection Strategy), where ICC, in close co-operation with Greenland’s Home Rule government, has worked for the living conditions of the Arctic people.
