We’ll tune in and discuss whether there’s a common denominator in music or a common language in which we can talk about music, across genres and national borders. We’ll serve wine and snacks along the way, and it’s not out of the question that some of the musicians will play a little for us. Thirteen artists and ensembles have created unique musical experiences that have been nominated for the 2021 Nordic Council Music Prize. Among this year’s nominees are vocalists, folk musicians, trumpeters, a pianist, a multi-instrumentalist, and a DJ collective.

Winner to be announced on 2 November

The winner of the Nordic Council Music Prize will be announced together with the winners of the other Nordic Council prizes on 2 November in Copenhagen in conjunction with the Session of the Nordic Council. The winner will receive the Nordlys statuette and DKK 300,000.

About the Nordic Council prizes

Each year the Nordic Council awards five prizes: the Literature Prize, the Film Prize, the Music Prize, the Environment Prize, and the Children and Young People’s Literature Prize. The purpose of the Nordic Council prizes is to recognise outstanding artistic contributions and increase interest in the Nordic cultural community and in environmental co-operation.
