Freedom of Movement Council
The Freedom of Movement Council is an independent body tasked by the Nordic governments with promoting freedom of movement in the Nordic Region for both individuals and businesses.
It should be possible to move, commute, study, and run businesses across national borders in the Nordic Region without the risk of being affected by obstacles to freedom of movement or other mobility problems.
Freedom of movement turns borders into opportunities rather than barriers. It is when people and businesses can move easily across borders that labour markets, skills exchange, and business opportunities open up. This contributes to growth, innovation, and competitiveness in our region.
“Fewer obstacles to freedom of movement and increased exchange lead to a more cohesive and competitive Nordic Region.”
Karen Ellemann, Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers.
