Prize gala on TV in whole of Nordic Region

Almost everybody in the Nordic Region will be able to watch events unfold from their sofas when the winners of the Nordic Council prizes 2018 are revealed on Tuesday 30 October. NRK1 will broadcast from the Norwegian Opera and Ballet in Oslo from 19:45, the other countries will start at different times.

The ever-popular Linda Eide and Hans Olav Brenner will compere the star-studded prize gala to celebrate the best of cultural and environmental achievements in the Nordic Region this year. Performers will include the artists Susanne Sundfør, Dagny Norvoll Sandvik, Jan-Erik Gustafsson, the Opera Choir and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra.


The awards will be broadcast on all of the Nordic public service channels:

  • Norway: NRK1, 30 October at 19:45 (Norwegian time)
  • Finland: Yle “Areena”, 30 October at 20:45 (Finnish time)
  • Denmark: DRK, 30 October at 20:00 (Danish time)
  • Iceland: RUV, 30 October (to be updated)
  • Faroe Islands:  KVF, 30 October at 17:45 (Faroese time)
  • Sweden:  SVT “Kulturstudion”, 1 December at 21:30 (to be updated)

Please note that the livestream of the gala on www.nrk.no will not be available outside Norway.


The winners will be awarded their DKK 350,000 prizes and statuettes by Norway’s Prime Minister Erna Solberg, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, author Gunilla Bergström, and composer Sofia Jernberg.
