Here are the priorities that the Nordic Council of Ministers for Business is focusing on to develop the business sector.

1. Promote green and innovative solutions

The point of these seven priorities is to accelerate the green and digital transitions by developing innovative new solutions. They focus on lifecycle-based approaches, pilot projects and speed to market. The work involves standardisation, the circular economy, building strong value chains and working together on the sustainable production of critical raw materials.

2. Digital solutions, the use and sharing of data

We aim to provide Nordic companies with more opportunities to make use of digital and green solutions. This includes working together on data-driven innovation, ethical uses of AI, developing digital ecosystems and promoting circular business models. Our focus is on making the Nordic Region a leader in the digital and green transitions.

3. Closer co-operation on internationalisation and access to financing

We aim to scale up and export more green Nordic solutions. This will be achieved by strategic partnerships, clusters and networks, access to capital and the mobilisation of private investments. The goal is to make the Nordic Region attractive as an early market for new technologies and provide greater opportunities in the international market.

4. Co-operation on construction and housing

Our focus is on developing a competitive and sustainable Nordic construction and housing market. We are working on digitalisation, the circular transition and harmonisation of standards. Work is also underway to promote cross-border freedom of movement, circular solutions and export opportunities for Nordic products.

5. Closer co-operation on EU industrial policy and simplifying the regulatory framework

Our goal is closer Nordic co-operation on EU industrial policy and the uniform implementation of EU rules and regulations. This will reduce burdens on businesses, simplify regulations and make the home market in the Nordic Region more integrated.

6. Sustainability reporting

These efforts involve the use of digitalisation, standardisation and automation to make the Nordic Region a leader in sustainability reporting. The aim is to reduce burdens on businesses, increase competitiveness and support the export of green solutions.

7. Nordic co-operation on tourism

The aim is to make the Nordic Region a more sustainable and competitive region for tourism. The work is done by the Nordic Tourism Working Group and is based on three focus areas:

  1. Competitive Nordics: Resilience, knowledge-based decisions and skills enhancement.
  2. Innovative Nordics: Using new technology to promote sustainability and social inclusion.
  3. Attractive Nordics: Preserve Nordic identity and values, greater environmental and social sustainability.
