Former Nokia CEO Jorma Ollila will be one of the guest speakers at the Session of the Nordic Council in Helsinki, where he will present his report on Nordic energy co-operation at a conference in the Little Parliament building on October 30.

The conference – Closer co-operation on energy will keep the Nordic Region on top – will focus on what the Nordic countries have to gain from working even more closely together on energy. In his report for the Nordic Council of Ministers, which was published this summer, Ollila presents 14 proposals for co-operation over the next 5–10 years.

Several of the proposals cover areas on which the Nordic Council is also doing work.

“Nordic co-operation on energy has been a success. It is often held up as an example to follow in an international context. The Nordic Region is a world leader in green energy, but more needs to be done if we are to maintain that position,” says the president of the Nordic Council, Britt Lundberg, who will be a keynote speaker on green energy and the Nordic Region at the conference.
