It is important for persons intending to study in Iceland to check the possibilities offered on the student housing market. The students’ organisations of most Icelandic universities own residences which are rented to students studying at the school in question.

Housing for students is of various types, intended for individuals as well as families. Student housing is most often, but not always, in the vicinity of the universities.

Students commonly live in private rental housing. Students from the Nordic countries can apply for housing benefits to their municipalities, provided they are domiciled in Iceland and have a registered lease contract.
