Practical information for journalists attending the 2024 Session of the Nordic Council in Reykjavik

Accreditation for the Session of the Nordic Council is mandatory for journalists who wish to cover the Session in person. A valid press card is required in order to be accredited. You can apply for accreditation until 25 October. After this date, and if you have any questions, please contact communications advisor Henric Öhman by e-mail at henohm@norden.org or by phone on +45 60 39 06 30. 

The presidency of the Nordic Council will hold a press conference prior to the opening of the Session on Tuesday 29 October in the Skáli building. The press conference will be held in English.

The Nordic prime ministers will hold a press conference on Tuesday 29 October. The press conference will be held in English.

The Nordic foreign ministers will hold a press conference on Tuesday 29 October.

Information about the time and place for the press conferences will be sent to accredited journalists.
 

Registration for the Session will take place in the Althing after the security check in the Skáli building. Entrance at Kirkjustræti 12. Upon registration, you will get your press/access card, which allows you to attend the plenary meetings and move around the Althing and City Hall where the plenary meetings will take place. 

You will need to present a valid press card and photo ID when registering. 

Registration will be open at the following times (Icelandic times): 

• Monday 28 October from 08:00 to 17:00 
• Tuesday 29 October from 07:30 to 17:00 
• Wednesday 30 October from 09:00 to 12:00 
• Thursday 31 October from 08:00 to 12:00 

The debates from the plenary meetings will be streamed live. You can follow the streams in the Scandinavian languages, Icelandic, Finnish, or English in the hall or on a large screen in a separate hall in the same building for officials and the press. 

The press have access to all plenary debates and meetings in the City Hall. However, there is a very limited number of places for the press in the hall itself.

This year, the winners of the Nordic Council prizes will be revealed in a television broadcast a week before the Session of the Nordic Council on 22 October. The winners will be present during the Session for a reception where the prize statuette will be handed over. The press are not permitted to attend the ceremony.
