Two Nordic princesses, HRH Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and HRH Princess Marie of Denmark, will participate in the Nordic Food Waste Summit on 26 April in Stockholm. Join us live!

One sustainable development goal agreed on by countries around the world is that food waste must be halved by 2030. If the Nordic Region is to succeed, the countries need to pick up the pace and work together more closely.

On 26 April, the Nordic Food Waste Summit will bring more than 170 people together including experts, politicians and representatives of public authorities, companies and civil society to discuss how the Nordic Region can implement immediate measures to reduce food waste.

To be opened by Princess Marie of Denmark

Princess Marie of Denmark will open the conference.

The princess has a vested interest in reducing food waste.

Her presence at the Nordic Food Waste Summit is helping to raise awareness of the issue and encourage closer Nordic co-operation.

Press welcome to participate in person

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden will participate in the afternoon session of the conference.

She is an international ambassador for the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and has long been deeply involved in several sustainability issues, including marine and water matters.

Peter Kullgren, Sweden’s Minister for Rural Affairs, and Jacob Jensen, Denmark’s Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, will speak at the conference.

The summit will be broadcast live, and the media will have the opportunity to participate in person.

3.6 million tonnes of food thrown away in the Nordics each year

Food waste is a mammoth sustainability issue that impacts both the climate and environment.

More than a third of all food produced in the world is thrown away. In the Nordic countries, more than 3.6 million tonnes of food are thrown away each year.

The summit will be held in English and can be followed in real time online.

Press must register by 25 April

The press and press photographers must show their press ID and register no later than 25 April.
