Electronic Identification in Åland

On this page you will find links to information on electronic identification and various types of identification tools in Finland and Åland.

Electronic identification is used to verify identity in various digital services, such as the e-services of Kela and the Tax Administration, as well as for online payments. In Finland and Åland, individuals can use bank codes, citizen certificates or mobile certificates as forms of electronic identification, also known as e-ID or electronic signatures. The only cross-border electronic identification tool in Finland is the citizen certificate (eIDAS). Foreign citizens can log in to certain Finnish e-services using eIDAS-compliant identification tools or the Finnish Authenticator identification service.
