Jessica Polfjärd has been elected President of the Nordic Council for 2019.

Jessica Polfjärd (Moderate Party) has been a member of the Swedish Parliament since 2006 and sits on the Committee on the Labour Market and the War Delegation (the body that would replace the parliament in the event of war). She chairs the Swedish delegation to the Nordic Council and is part of the Conservative group. During her Presidency, Polfjärd is committed, among other things, to continue work on gender equality, the climate, freedom of movement and democracy.

Jessica Polfjärd was elected to the European Parliament in the European election in May 2019. Consequently she has renounced her role as both a member of the Swedish parliament and President of the Nordic Council. Polfjärd was succeeded by Hans Wallmark on 26 June 2019.
