Nina Hvid Enevoldsen and Ole Andreas Lindeman have been appointed as the new office managers for the Nordic Council of Ministers' offices in Latvia and Lithuania, respectively. The pair will continue the close and longstanding co-operation between the Nordic Region and the Baltic states at a time when it is more important than ever.

The Nordic Council of Ministers has worked closely with Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania since the early 1990s and has offices in the three nations. It is an important partnership that will be even closer in the capable hands of Enevoldsen and Lindeman, who will head up existing and new initiatives in Latvia and Lithuania to develop an even more democratic and robust Baltic Sea region.

Nina Hvid Enevoldsen has extensive experience in the Danish Foreign Service and is currently in charge of work on economic and trade policy at the embassy in Poland. She has also worked in business, other ministries and the EU Commission. When she takes up her new post, the focus will be on working together, not just in the Baltic Sea region but also with other European nations.
“Hand in hand with our Baltic partners, I want to leverage our partnerships and Nordic solidarity to help build up a robust European democracy based on Nordic values. One way of doing this will be to expand co-operation with other European countries,” she says.

Ole Andreas Lindeman has extensive experience in the Norwegian Foreign Service, for example, as an ambassador and head of several diplomatic missions on multiple continents, including to the east of the Nordic Region. He will use his experience to see the region through difficult times, which will be his focus from day one.
“In the run-up to 2030, positive solutions will be more crucial than ever in my time in international work. Trust, integration, and social sustainability are the most important tools for safeguarding our values at a time of turmoil and uncertainty,” he says.

Knowledge of the region and international experience

The Nordic Council of Ministers' Baltic offices run projects and programmes that reflect the challenges the region faces at any given time, and which call for office managers who know the part of the world and have international experience. The Secretary General of the Nordic Council of Ministers, Karen Ellemann, warmly welcomes the pair.

“I am delighted that we have convinced Nina Hvid Enevoldsen and Ole Andreas Lindeman to take over as our office managers in Latvia and Lithuania. They both have long experience of international co-operation and know the challenges and opportunities in the Baltic Sea region. I would like to extend a warm welcome to them both,” she says.

The new office managers will take up their posts in August, succeeding the current office managers, Helén Nilsson in Lithuania and Stefan Eriksson in Latvia. Huge thanks are due to Helén and Stefan for eight years of service, commitment and enthusiasm for Nordic and Nordic-Baltic co-operation.
