Driving force for the circular economy in industry: Waste to Value.

The Eyde Cluster consists of 43 companies, 15 of them in the processing industry. It seeks to enhance competitiveness by greater resource efficiency and sustainable new solutions.

One example is the “Waste to Value” project, which aims to produce commercial raw materials for use in the production of pig iron and manganese by upgrading side flows and waste and transforming them into commercially viable products for sale at market rates or for use in primary production. The Cluster is now looking into the potential for using forestry side flows as raw materials in metal processing, and evaluating new business models in the circular economy.

It has also established a number of other exciting R&D projects.

Working together has helped cluster members carve out strong positions as innovation centres in their respective corporations, and provided opportunities to spread Nordic knowhow about the green transition at international level. The Eyde Cluster has also been the driver behind the creation of a Nordic symbiotic network that aims to make better use of resources from waste and side streams.
