Teaching materials for the Nordic languages
Norden i Skolen
Norden i Skolen (The Nordic Region in the School) is a free platform that gives teachers and students in all Nordic countries new opportunities to work with the Scandinavian languages (Danish, Norwegian and Swedish) in both primary and secondary schools. The material is rich and varied, easy to use, and takes into account that teaching a neighbouring language is more than and different from teaching your mother tongue.
Nordens sprog med rødder og fødder (Dynamic Languages with Roots)
Nordiske sprog med rødder og fodder (Dynamic Languages with Roots) is a lively and objective account of the Nordic languages in a historical perspective. The material is in Danish, Faroese, Icelandic, Norwegian and Swedish. The book contains an account of the languages’ structure, historical development and mutual kinship. As well as the book and website there is comprehensive teaching material consisting of short, easily accessible texts on the history of language and linguistic subjects.
Atlantbib
Atlantbib is a book project as part of which teachers and students write textbooks that are available online and free of charge for use in all schools. The books focus on similarities and differences between the Nordic and Baltic countries in terms of history, geography, language and culture. The students help to research, write, translate and narrate the books before they are published. The project is open, and all schools are welcome to write or translate books for it. The aim is to open up the Nordic/Baltic language and cultural community to children and to offer free teaching resources to schools at all levels.
Den nordiske bogsluger (The Nordic Bookworm)
Den nordiske bogsluger (The Nordic Bookworm) creates educational support material for picture books in all the Nordic countries – free of charge and in all the Nordic languages. The material is free to use in discussions about books in school, at the library, or at home on the sofa.
