New director of Nordic Innovation – Sindre S. Bornstein
I am delighted to welcome Sindre as the new director of Nordic Innovation and look forward to drawing on his experience in innovation and the green transition. Sindre comes from a job focusing on the blue economy and green transition, two important areas for the Nordic Council of Ministers.
Background in the private and public sectors
Sindre comes from a post as Vice President, Digital & Decarbonisation, VPS (Oslo), where he had the commercial responsibility for VPS’s initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions from ships. He has previously worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Norway, including in the Prime Minister’s Office and as Consul at the Norwegian Consulate in San Francisco.
- "In San Francisco, I had the pleasure of working closely with the Nordic Innovation House in Palo Alto and saw with my own eyes that the Nordic brand is strong in a fiercely competitive market. Something had been built up that produces results, for example, with Nordic Startup and Scale-up. These are the kind of innovative initiatives I want to be even more closely involved in," Bornstein says and continues;
- "I have a strong commitment to Nordic and international co-operation and understand the necessity of a business community that is innovative if we are to generate sustainable development and find solutions to global social challenges. The Nordic Region has a unique position and a distinct voice internationally. I look forward to doing my bit to further develop this along with the Nordic Innovation team and in close co-operation with the various Nordic Council of Ministers’ departments and my new sister organisations."
Thank you, Svein!
The current director of Nordic Innovation, Svein Berg, bows out at the start of the new year after eight years in the post, during which he has built up a strong team, generated good results and enhanced the visibility of what Nordic companies have to offer.
