“New Nordic Peace” - seminar on peace and conflict resolution
The report New Nordic Peace focuses on how the Nordic countries can work together in the field of peace and conflict resolution. The report looks at current structures and the future potential for co-operation on peace.
The report, which was funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers, will be presented and discussed at a seminar in the Danish Parliament - the Folketing - in Copenhagen to conclude the Nordic Council’s theme session for 2019. The hosts are the Nordic Council and the Centre for Resolution of International Conflicts (CRIC), which drafted the report.
The focus of the seminar is peace as a Nordic trademark, and Nordic co-operation in the field of peace and conflict resolution, drawing on examples from Afghanistan, co-operation with the UN, and Nordic networks for women, peace, and security.
Participants in the seminar include the President of the Nordic Council Jessica Polfjärd, Professor at Uppsala University Isak Svensson, member of the Nordic Council Erkki Tuomioja, and Secretary General of the Danish Refugee Council Dansk Flygtningehjælp, Christian Friis Bach.
Anyone who is interested in taking part in the seminar should register with Helena Slater, helsla@norden.org, by Monday 1 April. The seminar will take place in Fællessalen of the Danish Parliament in Copenhagen on 9 April from 16:00 to 17:45. The seminar will be held in English.
